After months of delays, Heartspring Orphanage was finally given the "Occupational Certificate" which allowed Heartspring to bring in the orphan girls! Tears of joy flowed from those who have worked so hard for so long to see these vulnerable orphan girls rescued. The difficult task then became "which of the hundreds of little girls should be rescued and which must be left behind?"
After much prayer and careful consideration as to each girl's situation, Jacob set out to collect those who were judged to be the most desperate. To his dismay, some of the most desperate were denied the opportunity by relatives who wanted to keep them for menial tasks, sexual reasons, or for other selfish reasons. But, one girl's tragedy became another girl's opportunity to a safe haven. We can "curse the darkness or light a candle". For 18 girls, the candle of hope now burns brightly!
News Oct. 2011 ---- Again it took 6 months after construction was completed to get the "occupational Certificate". But now there are 31 girls safely residing in the Girls orphanage. They came from desperate, dangerous and unhealthy circumstances. Each has received medical attention, love and assurance that they will be cared for properly. Three USA Trustees of Heartsprings Africa Foundation and Evan Brown a nurse from Philadelpha visited within days of the new girls arrival, it was apparent that each child was so very happy to be at Heartspring!
